1 Corinthians 8:1 states “Knowledge puffs up (makes arrogant), but love edifies (builds up).
The Voyager Space Craft is breaking a record that was not even being thought of when it was launched back in 1977. It is now one light-day away from our home, the Earth. Yes, I said One Light-Day, which actually took forty-eight years.
A light day sounds funny. I had never heard it said like that before. We measure in light-years. Our closest neighbor that could have an Earth-like planet is Alpha Centauri. For us old folks, that’s where the “Lost in Space” TV family was heading. Alpha Centauri is 4.37 light-years away. That would take us 76,614 (seventy-six thousand six hundred and fourteen) Earth years to reach.
If you want the math:
Light Years X Days |
= Light Days = Years x Years |
|
4.37 x 365 |
= 1596 x 48 =76,614 |
My point is just how vast God’s creation really is! How vast is God’s knowledge!
Psalm 147:4-5 “He counts the numbers of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.”
I know Jesus was talking about faith in Matthew 8:3 when He said we must become like little children, but when it comes to the mind of God, we are but children, only understanding what He has chosen to reveal to us for His purpose, which is Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
Safe to say almost all of us could turn on a TV set, but how many of us could build one, power it up, or produce the signal?
So realizing our limitations, in Matthew 7:1-3, Jesus said, “Judge not, lest you be judged.” How, with imperfect knowledge, can we judge? Only perfect knowledge can judge, and only God knows truly what is in the heart of a man.
We are instructed in Ephesians 4:32 to have grace for one another. “And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
