Worship in Revelation
People usually shy away from the book of Revelation. They usually look at Revelation from the standpoint of the end times, or Jesus talking to the Seven Churches.
There is nothing to be concerned about with this wonderful last book of the Bible. We, as God’s children, should look at it with joy because of the promises of God being fulfilled.
It can also be a book of instruction. The letters to the Seven Churches are full of instructions and admonishments. We can remind ourselves how we should be following Jesus. And be ever watchful of the enemy prowling around. But I would like to show you a different way of looking at Revelation.
Revelation shows you how to worship the Father and the Son.
Chapter 4 talks about John going up to heaven and the 24 thrones and the 24 elders. And the four living beings who day after day keep saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty’ who was, and is, and is to come.” (Rev. 4:8).
Then, we read in Revelation 4:9-11, "Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Revelation 5 talks about praising the Lamb (Jesus). Let's look at verse 5:9. "And they sang a new song, saying, 'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.'"
Another verse about praise to the Lamb is found in verse 5:12. " In a loud voice they were saying, “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Again, in verse 5:13 we read that all creatures sing praises to the Lamb. "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying, 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever and ever!”
There are many passages in the Bible talking about praising and worshipping the Father. But I love the verses in Revelation. I have put them in my prayer book. For me, when I spend time with the Lord. I like to start off reminding myself who the Father and Son are and worshipping them.
